Ce samedi 22 août 2026, le président Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, a procédé à l’inauguration officielle de l’autoroute à péage reliant Mbour à Kaolack via Fatick, en présence de l’Ambassadeur de la République Populaire de Chine au Sénégal.
Désormais ouverte à la circulation, cette infrastructure de 100 km, complétée par 15 km de voies de connexion, représente un investissement total de 738 millions de dollars US (environ 400 milliards FCFA). Elle relie directement la Petite Côte au cœur du Bassin arachidier, renforçant ainsi la continuité territoriale.
Le chef de l’État a salué une réalisation qui fait « la fierté nationale et qui témoigne de l’excellence du partenariat » entre le Sénégal et la Chine, maître d’ouvrage du financement à 81%. Il a également félicité les ministères des Infrastructures et des Transports pour avoir anticipé la livraison du projet, mise en service avant le Gamou, au bénéfice des pèlerins et des usagers.
Le chantier a généré 3.000 emplois directs, plus de 18 milliards de francs CFA de salaires versés, et a mobilisé une vingtaine d’entreprises et PME sénégalaises pour un montant de 60 milliards de francs CFA en sous-traitance. En favorisant le rapprochement des populations, des territoires et des Agropoles, cette inauguration marque une avancée décisive dans la politique d’équité territoriale et de mobilité durable portée par le Président de la République.
