Dakarmidi – Un grand homme, un guide spirituel exceptionnel.
Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Sy Al Maktoum, c’est un nom qui résonne avec respect, admiration et gratitude au Sénégal ! Né en 1925 à Saint-Louis, il était le petit-fils d’El Hadji Malick Sy, le fondateur de la confrérie Tidiane au Sénégal, et le fils de Seydi Ababacar Sy. Ce guide spirituel a laissé une marque indélebile dans l’histoire du pays.
Il était un surdoué, il a bouclé ses études islamiques à 14 ans et a publié son premier livre, « Les vices des marabouts », à 16 ans. Il a également fondé le Parti Socialiste Sénégalais (PSS) et a été un opposant à Léopold Sédar Senghor, ce qui lui a valu des séjours en prison.
Il est devenu le 5e khalife général de la confrérie Tidiane en 2012, après la mort de son frère Mansour Sy. Il a prêché un islam ouvert, tolérant et en harmonie avec les autres religions. Ses conférences étaient des leçons d’histoire, de sociologie et de philosophie qui captivaient des foules immenses.
Il a laissé derrière lui un héritage de paix, de tolérance et de responsabilité. Il a encouragé les jeunes à être des acteurs de la réforme sociale et économique, rappelant que l’Islam est une religion de progrès et de labeur. Il est décédé en 2017, mais son influence continue de se faire sentir au Sénégal et au-delà.
Sa mémoire continue d’inspirer les générations actuelles et futures, qui cherchent à concilier leur foi et leur engagement citoyen. Son message de paix, de dialogue et de solidarité reste d’une brûlante actualité, et son exemple nous invite à œuvrer pour un monde plus juste et plus fraternel.
